The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) Gilgit-Baltistan operates under a well-defined charter.
The main functions of the CMIT are listed below:
- Inspection of development projects throughout the Gilgit-Baltistan with the following objectives:
- That development projects are properly planned and are executed efficiently, expeditiously and economically with effective quality controls and to recommend appropriate action against the default officials / departments
- That directives / orders of the Government regarding development projects are being fully implemented;
- Review of progress on ADP twice a year all Government Department including Police, Autonomous / Semi-Autonomous Bodies and Local Bodies to see whether or not these department/agencies discharging their duties / functions efficiently and expeditiously and to bring serious observations to the notice of the Government together with recommendations for improvement
- Take cognizance of any important matter affecting Government/public interest and draw attention of the authorities concerned for appropriate action and place it before the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan for his consideration/ order
- Entertain complaints of serious/urgent nature and pass these on to the concerned quarters for expeditious disposal or carryout investigation/probe directly as may be appropriate
- Undertake special assignment on the order of the Chief Minister regarding a subject note specified in this chapter
- Any requisition made or assistance required by the inspection team in these regards shall be complied with promptly by all concerned. In case of noncompliance, disciplinary action shall be taken prevailing E&D Rules
- Other Departments may assign specific important task to the inspection team with prior permission of Chief Minister
- The Chairman, Chief Minister Inspection Team shall submit his reports to the Chief Minister directly. Copies may be endorsed to the concerned department/ officials those which may be of confidential nature
- The Chairman, Chief Minister Inspection Team shall maintain close liaison with Anti-Corruption Department and pass on cases which may be appropriate to be dealt with by them
- Service matters except those entrusted to S&GAD Department
- The Team will inspect budget, accounts and audit matters
- The Team will inspect purchase of stores, capital goods for the department
- The Governor may also assign special task to CMIT for investigation and report will be submitted directly to Governor
