Established in 2003 Since its inception, the CMIT has functioned under different names, titles and mandate.

The chronological sequence is below:

  • Chief Executive Inspection Team (CEIT), 2003-2008 (with Chairman as Head of Institution)
  • Chairman Inspection Team (CIT), 2008- 2023 (with Director General as Head of Institution)
  • Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT) , July 24, 2023 (with Chairman as Head of Department)
